Introduction
Type 2 diabete is a heterogeneous complex disease that has become a global public health priority \cite{Rathmann_2004}. In Asia, type 2 diabetes has emerged as a rapidly growing problem in Asia associated with high economic and physiological burdens. In Singapore, already from 2010, the cost of diabetes constitutes 10% of Singapore's GDP spending on health care and it is estimated to continue to impose a significant burden in the next four decades .
