Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to write a brief reviwe of the core issues in cc ocupational health. WE start with a brief overview of occupational health. Ten Then we highlight the issues that do not allow an accurate s estimation or rather underestimation of the extent of occupational health issues. These are essentially non that no patient patients do not always bring their occupational issues to the attention of the physicians and caregivers; that even if the patients bring it to the attention of the caregivers, the caregivers maynot notice it; even if the caregivers notice or are aware of the issues, they may not always report them, and finally, here are there ar other re ot are other issues associated such as job loss ea fear or other employer and legal isues that eventually lead to under reporting of the occupational health issues. We l also then discuss ways in wich primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of occupational health can occur. We state that heealth professionals need t be vigit vigilant and be careful about the possiblities of occupational id diseases when patients wpresent with complaints specific compa complaints such as respiratory illnesses, neuropsc neurosp nu neuropsychological illnesses or other conditions and was to a was ways to idn identify them. We then discuss the role of ogovernment and regulatory agencies in bringing the issues around occupational ehalth to the foregront of public hed debtae. We discuss this with the contenx eco context of n New Zealand in the picture.
