Mirza Faisal Beg
Professor
Dr. Mirza Faisal Beg is currently a tenured Professor at the School of Engineering
Science at Simon Fraser University (SFU), Vancouver, Canada and the Associate
Dean, Faculty of Applied Science, responsible for graduate research. He got his
Bachelor of Technology (honors) degree in Electrical Engineering at the Indian
Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur and his Master of Science degree in
Biomedical Engineering from Boston University (USA). He received his PhD degree
in Biomedical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
(USA). His main interest is in designing computational instrumentation using novel
signal processing tools for the quantitative understanding of human brain structure
and function. He was recently recognized with the SFU Faculty of Applied Science’s
Excellence in Teaching award (2011), the Association of Professional Engineers
and Geoscientists of British Columbia’s Meritorious Achievement award (2012) for
his contributions to engineering and computational tools for advancing technology
applicable to human health and the SFU Faculty of Applied Science Excellence in
Research Award (2015) for contributions to designing novel computational tools for
analysis of multimodal brain images for applications in Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
