Abstract

A Question-Answering system unlike a search-engine is designed to provide exact, accurate and succinct answer to a question. However, there are many challenges involved in getting this information. For example, finding birth-date of a popular person by first name would not necessarily give the desired results in traditional Question-Answering systems. In this paper we present a well-defined architecture and implementation of a scalable context-aware Question-Answering system using Wikipedia infobox and Wikipedia abstracts. In our approach we have used the traditional Question-Answering system modules such as: Question Analyzer, Query Engine, Infobox Database, Scoring, Filtering and Answer generation, but are custom-tailored for answering Wikipedia infobox based questions.
