Introduction

After 30 years of the HIV epidemic, much progress has been achieved in the knowledge of the disease and its treatment. Today, the reduction of HIV-associated mortality has transformed it into a chronic disease for a large number of patients. At the same time, HIV patients have seen a significant increase in the prevalence of age related diseases such as cardiovascular, liver and kidney diseases, osteoporosis and non-AIDS related malignancies  \cite{High2012}
