While the cattle industry has gone through great
measures to improve herd management, animal facilities and care, feeding and
nutrition, and appropriate use of bio-pharmaceutics, calf diarrhea still remains
a problem due to its multifaceted nature (Bendali et al., 1999; Scott et al.,
2004). Prevention and control strategies of diarrhea in young calves is based
on a proper understanding of the disease complexities such as multiple
pathogens, co-infection, environmental factors, feeding and management during
the calving period.
