Abstract

This article presents a maximum power point control (MPPC) algorithm on a 5kW doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind energy conversion system (WECS). The proposed algorithm can generate optimal speed for wind turbine to harvest more energy from all wind profiles. In this paper, the tip speed ratio (TSR) algorithm is proposed on rotor side control (RSC) to extract maximum power by controlling rotor speed and grid side control (GSC) is regulated to control DC link voltage. Also, the closed-loop double transfer function of RSC and GSC can be determined by using a proportional-integral control strategy. The Matlab/Simulation result show that the proposed MPPT algorithm can extract maximum power against all types of wind flow conditions.
